Day One is a complete SUCCESS!!!

PLEASE READ CLEAR TO BOTTOM FOR INFO ON WHERE TO FIND MORE PICTURES!!!

Bible Story/Skit group Day One
Kids at morning VBS holding up their crafts during closing!

SO, Lots of great things happening here!! We are sooo thankful and are praising the Lord for a wonderful first day at both the morning and afternoon VBS!! At MacField, we had about 60 children and all went well. We are able to use the college facilities again, so we have more room!! In the afternoon at Calvary Baptist, we ended up with about 130 children!! And yes, there are only 24 of us to run everything!! We worked hard and it all worked out!!

Tonight we had some group time to sing and share, which we all love. Several of the girls were able to get some of their hair braded (like bangs and front half, etc). The various skit groups also practiced and we made plans for the rest of the week. We are going to bed EARLY, (REALLY early for some of these teens) but they are definitely NOT complaining.

Overall, we (the leaders) are THRILLED with your students. They are eager and hard working and they are not obnoxiously loud nor rudely sarcastic!!! These are GOOD things, believe me!!

And so far, EVERYONE is HEALTHY!!! THANK you for your posts. We were able to share them at dinner tonight. I apologize that I can not get as many pictures on here as I like. It is taking forever to upload a tiny jpeg!!

One more thing: I tried posting a few pictures on my facebook page tonight and it went much quicker than trying to load on this blog. SOOO please feel free to check it out too. If you aren't on facebook, maybe now is the time to join!! or you can always go "creep" through someone else's FB!!! :)

Sunday night we had a little time to enjoy the pool!

Your comments about day 1 were so encouraging to all of us here! Over one hundred children, with 24 of you, only through Christ could it all be possible to have gone so well! Praise His Holy Name! Loving the pix Dena-thank you.

Great News! Praise the Lord, just to think you are impacting a generation with the Gospel. How awesome is that! I came across 2 Thess 3:1 Paul asked the Thessolians to pray that the Word would speed ahead of them and in verse 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. I am praying this would happen to each and everyone of you this day and the rest of the week.

Keep making Christ famous to those who need Him!!

Wow! That is alot of kids for 24 people to keep busy. We are praying that your strength continues and your entire team stays healthly.
I Thessalonians 1:3
Lord God, I desire that these things will be remembered before you: my work produced by faith, my labor prompted by love, and my endurance inspired by hope in my Lord Jesus Christ.

Peter we are praying for you!

Jack,
Bobby's temp is gone and he is missing you. He hasn't left the house since the hospital trip, but has eaten the entire box of chocolate pop tarts you left. He is playing with a lamp in the den and can't wait to show you it.

Remember why you are there and who you represent. Continue to give 150 percent (Gull Lake counselors). Do you still have your teeth?

Arianna,
Was wondering about the Worm shirt, I thought your favorite critters began with a "L"

Dena,
Keep those pics coming they are amazing.

I am sooo excited for you guys!!! God is going to do big things through you. Willing vessels are so usable for God's glory!!! You are all in my prayers. It's so great to be able to get these updates! God Bless you all! (David/Daniel-got you last, not playing anymore!!) Love - Ant Ann (Demeniuk) (David & Daniel's Aunt!)

You know how technologically adept & observant I am. Couldn't figure out how to open a google accnt to add to the blog!! That's what took me so long to write! Dah, everyone is "anonymous" and that posts w/o any sign-up!! Okay... David & Daniel hope your first time "airborne" (2 x 2) was exhilarating! Should have told you to chew some gum to keep your ears from "popping"! Am praying for a life changing experience for the both of you! Take time, if you can, to be still & know deeper the God you are serving there. Love, Mom P.S. Hi to Paul W., Ryan H. & & Becca L. God's blessings to all the kids & leaders!

Kelly,
We trust that you are doing well and are not too homesick. You’re probably too busy to get homesick and that’s a good thing. Keep focused on why you are there and how you can show Christ through your words and deeds. Try to keep cool and have some fun, too. I suspect you will have a much better tan than me by the time you get home.
Love Mom and Dad Brown.

Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”

Well, Rachel, I'm following your request to check out the blog daily. It is so fun to "see" you all having a blast even in the heat/humidity of Jamaica.
The house is SOOOOO quiet!! I miss you.
Hope the Lord teaches you alot. Please be open to what He has in mind for you for this week.

Dena, I'm chiming in with all the others to thank you so much for the view of this week via pictures. I so appreciate your documentation of this time in Rachel's (and Allan/B J's)life.

Patrick, hope I didn't spoil the WC result for you.

Jessica, sat behind your parents Sunday and was glad to hear that the team made it to Atlanta and were on the way to Jamaica.

Joe, Hi didn't want to leave you out of this. I know Patrick and Dena appreciate your energy during this week. Praying God grants that stamina and excitement again this year.

I am praying for the whole team, for spiritual growth and that this week would impact the local folks as well as you all.

Lovin you guys,

Debbie D. (AKA Marme)

Hey group!

Hope all is going well on day 2. From a Jamaica veteran, just make sure you make it through 1 more day, then things tend to smooth out! Temperatures get milder, thus making ya'll easier to deal with each other (good thing!)

David Ortiz won the HR derby and George Steibrenner (NY Yankees owner) died.

Thought of the song by Travis Cottrell for you all today and here is a snip-it!

http://www.icelebz.com/lyrics/travis_cottrell/ring_the_bells/jesus_saves.html

Freedom's calling, chains are falling, hope is dawning bright and true. Day is breaking, night is quaking, God is making all things new. "Jesus saves."

Prayed for all of you to have great teamwork, and specifically for these individuals (more to come I promise!!))

Elliot - interaction w/ the kids w/ your athletic gifts.

Kelly, Rachel, Ryan, Arianna, Courtney - great to see more "family connections" continue! BLOG HIGH 5!!

Mitch - hope your health is good.

Haley - Taking advantage of the possible 3 year experience

Leslie - your spunkyness and joy in your smile will go miles this week!

David & Daniel - Your musical and worship leading skills to be stretched

Becca - advancment in your willingness for full time missions

Your Bro, JROD

Lindsey,Did you remember your febreze and dancing waters? haha I haven't heard anything about a repeat of Hurricane katrina...i think it was Katrina. You'll have to tell the girls that story. p.s. I hope you were able to get yourself a good bed this time. And if you guys get to go back to the infirmary please give Daphene and extra hello for me.

Rachel D. and Ana, I'm so glad you guys were able to go to Jamaica! I did not know you were going, but that is great. I know God will do great things with you guys.

Rebecca L., dont forget to share the wonderfulness of Deliciouses with all the girls. The tradition must go on haha.

To All, Love on those kids! They love you unconditionally already and i'm sure you all already do too. Please take care of my little girl Onnyxscia / Lushis (a.m VBS)! And if Katia is there in the p.m. VBS please tell her that Noelle sends her love.

Lindsay I am so proud of you and all the work you are doing to teach children about Christ at VBS.
I can't imagine having so many children there with only 24 teacher/workers. We are praying for you each day for good health and safety. I hope many children come to know Jesus thru your teams efforts. Love seeing all the pictures. Love you and God Bless
