Last day of VBS...

It's Friday night and today was the final day for VBS. Overall it went very well. It was difficult to say good-bye to our many friends that we made in such a short time. It rained in the afternoon and there were less kids there today because summer school does not meet on Fridays. Every child heard the gospel message and learned many Bible verses and truths throughout the week. About 10 to 12 children did pray to receive Christ between Thurs and Friday!

We also had our first injuries this morning, but nothing life threatening, so don't you worry! Not even a trip to a doctor or ER was necessary. So Essian and Relph families - here's the scoop: Mitch got a wasp sting on the thumb, but Chris (our driver) knew the natural remedy for it and rubbed some leaves together to remove the stinger. It swelled slightly, but now is almost gone. About ten minutes later, Peter sprained his ankle, rolling it on a rock. He tried a natural remedy called duct tape and had it wrapped up in no time. Later, fireman Joe gave him a proper ankle wrap. He's doing fine just hobbling along!! No need to worry - these boys are as tough as they come!!

After the P.M. VBS, we made another stop at the infirmary to help them serve dinner. We sang songs. A few girls stayed outside the building and talked with children who just naturally come up when they see a bunch of white people get off a bus. We probably stayed there an hour and a half again. Rebecca made a special friend...with a GOAT! No kidding and of all the times that there was no camera around, we saw her carrying it!!

After we cleaned up and went to downtown Savanna-La-Mar and the students picked either Burger King or KFC for dinner. Dave Kaynor, we always think of you when we see a BK in Jamaica and yes, the shake machine was working!! Back at the hotel, the annual "GIRL" night and "GUY" night (seperate, of course) rocked with laughter.

Tomorrow is the "FUN TOURISTY" day! We are headed over to Mo-Bay for some shopping and swimming. And sunblock is not optional this year!!

Ok, so we didn't get a perfect record of no injuries and no illnesses. Mitchell, I just knew you couldn't make it a whole week (haha). Your brother got a bee sting too. Hope your ankle is feeling better Peter. Can't wait till Monday night (even if IT IS past my bed time) And Courtney, ARE YOU EATING. Looking like your gonna turn sideways and disappear. I know, I know... I'm a pest. Just miss you tons.
Love and prayers, Mom (Konop)

So, I sure am glad Monday will be here soon even if you all do arrive so late it will be TUESDAY!! before we get back home.

Dena sure do hope you are doing a disc again of all the Jamaica pics. Rachel, I'm hoping you have a ton of them too. This should be fun to scrapbook!!

To the leaders I am so grateful to you for allowing my kids the opportunity to participate in this amazing ministry. We will continue to pray that God's Word would not return to Him void but will accomplish exactly what He intends it to.

Love to each of you. Safety as you return.

I hope you're all having a marvelous time on your well-deserved fun day!! Thank you all for your hard work in preparing for this trip and for giving it your all this week in Jamaica! I said an extra prayer for Peter today - hope you aren't in too much pain today and can enjoy your day with the rest of the group! I hope the leaders are able to relax and enjoy too!

Paige & Ana, I want to know the story of the lady at the infirmary. That picture brought tears to my eyes more than once - well, a lot of pictures did that! (I can hear Lindsay saying "Ohhhh Mom!!!) I can't wait to hear stories from a lot of you!

Lindsay, I know you don't want to come home but your family misses you!! And your best friends miss you! And now that Jordan is sidelined he misses you too. And the Jam Tram misses you - but don't worry, I took it out today and drove it everywhere until I couldn't take the music and the gas light went on!! Soooo we are looking forward to having 5 whole days with you before you leave again for TLC!!

Have a wonderful time tomorrow as you worship the Lord at the Jamaican churches!!

Hope you all enjoyed your "fun touristy" day! ...and you didn't get too burned. I pray that tomorrow's worship time gives you all time to reflect on all of the goodness and love that the Lord heeped on you guys this past week, and that the awesome opportunity that you had to share God's love will translate into some kind of community service here at home/church! Can't wait to hear all about it. As a first-timer-parent, hope there's a "cool down" that us Moms & Dads can attend to hear all about the week. (Perhaps with some of those wonderful pix, Dena! - Not asking much, eh?) Joy to all!!! David & Daniel... been wanting to tell you just how quiet it's been without you two here. Am I getting used to it? ..........h-m-m-m-m.... Nah... YLMom (Kolis)

Miss Kelly,
Mom and I were at the softball games last night and at one point I was looking around to see where you were. I'm ready for you to come home. Whether you are ready or not I guess is another question.
I trust you've had a good week. Lots of work and lots of fun.
See you Monday night.
Dad

After looking at the all the pictures, one can definitely see the joy on the faces of these children, and also the joy that the students are experiencing. Haley, I know that the Lord will see you through the good-byes. Joel, Ryan and Logan all felt the exact same way. I'm so glad that you are there and that you can also receive joy from these little ones. I can't wait to see you!! I hope you got some pictures when you had some free moments. I'm at home today, but I'm still able to pray for the service and the opportunity for you to see how people can still have so little, and yet find joy in their lives.
Thank you to all of you students and leaders for being a part of this ministry. I know the students will draw upon this time in different places in their lives when they come home. Haley, who would have thought Joel would be sitting on the streets of L.A. talking, sharing, and feeding the people who are in need. God can use any of us, anywhere if we let him.
Love you Haley, Mom
P.S. Ryan better not say anything about my long note, or Brooke's either, "cause I'm still his mom!!=)

Hi Leslie,
Our Sunday here has been a blessing. I have a VBS meeting today and I've been making palm trees for the Kdg. room decorations. Hopefully you didn't get too carried away on Sat. & still have money left for food on the return trip. Ha, Ha! I'm planning on making cinnamon rolls Monday as a welcome home treat. We're so looking forward to seeing you and hearing all about the trip. I want to know if Ryan had any trouble getting his ninja stars through customs. Keep praising the Lord on the trip home remember you are always Christ ambassador.
Love, Mom
